The idea of the EU.

What i do not understand about the plans for the EU is why bother doing it? its the same idea as the Soviet Union and we all know how that idea ended.
All that will happen over the life of the eu is it will fall apart and die just like the soviet union did so why do it? .

It's the fact that they have the opportunity to control an entire continent of the world with little (at present) opposition.
Ego and power
One thing I noticed when I visited the Parliament was how sure they are all of how great the EU is. There are champage receptions to woo delegates from member states and displays celebrating the EU's successes. Everything about it glorifies and rewards the lawmakers while supressing and manipulating the average citizen. I couldn't care less if the whole lot came crashing down - as long as Britain has seen sense and got the hell out of it!
