Tory education plans slammed by Chairman.

Shadow Schools Secretary Michael Gove's plans for reforming education in Britain have been slammed by Young Independence Chairman Michael Heaver. Among the proposals, the Conservatives want top secondary schools to take over poor performing primary schools. They also proposed moving the national tests that 11 year old's take to the first year of secondary school instead.

"This is missing the point", said Mr. Heaver.

"Why is it so hard for our political elite to understand that young people have different skills? While I myself was academically able, I had many very intelligent friends who simply weren't good at writing essays on a piece of paper. As a result our educational system offers them very little.

"What we need is the restoration of grammar schools. Those who are academically gifted can then focus on their assets and those will more vocational skills can harness and fulfil their true potential too. The Tories, as usual, are effectively tinkering around the edges of an education system that has failed millions of children by failing to recognise that different kids have different abilities."
