With the Conservative Spring Conference about to kick off in Brighton with the General Election slogan "vote for change", Young Independence Chairman Michael Heaver has rubbished the notion that the Conservatives represent change.

He said: "Having David Cameron in 10 Downing Street and the blue rosettes beating the red rosettes on election night would mean very little.

"The Tories are trying to tap into the "change" theme that Barack Obama used so successfully in America. The trouble is, there really isn't much to substantiate David Cameron's claim that the Tories will do things differently from Labour."

Heaver instead insists that it will be UKIP truly representing an opportunity for change in the UK at the ballot box come the General Election.

"UKIP don't just say change, we can substantiate it with policy. Restoration of grammar schools. Flat tax encouraging the poorest back into work. Petitions to trigger local and nation referenda. A 40% increase on the defence budget. Investment in nuclear energy and our manufacturing base. And yes, withdrawing from the European Union and representing ourselves as a country on the global scale again instead of a small European one.

"Cameron may say change until he's blue in the face, but unlike UKIP his program for government includes very little which would actually help change people's lives for the better in Britain."
