Although no Young Independence candidate managed to land a major council seat this past election, impressive and encouraging results were to be found all across the country.

The EU's own Eurobarometer survey has shown that 25% of 15-25 year olds think the British media is biased towards the European Union, while just 14% thought the opposite.

"The youngest respondents (15-24 year-olds), and those still in education were more likely to say that British TV and radio broadcasts were positively biased when reporting on the EU than to claim the opposite."

Young Independence, UKIP’s youth wing, has slammed Osborne’s “Budget for growth” which ignores the plight of young people suffering a record unemployment rate.

At a Young Independence fringe meeting following Saturday’s Spring Conference in Scarborough, the brand new YI council was announced to both a raft of UKIP activists and members of the party leadership.

As you may be aware the annual YI Council elections are taking place shortly, culminating in the result at Spring Conference in Scarborough on Saturday 5th March.

UKIP's Michael Heaver has condemned the violence that marred student protests in London yesterday and urged the Government and students to take a look at the Party's manifesto promises on tuition fees.

While we in Young Independence will always support the right to march and protest and express freedom of speech, especially during such hard economic times, we do not condone some of the events that had unfolded during the course of the day. To set fires near the War Memorial and to damage policie vehicles and to harm police personnel is unjustifiable and wrong.
